It's lantana, don't guess.

Excuses - It was extremely windy. I had no shade. I forgot my colors. Reverting back to my dried up Camlin C-18, using colors that were left to dry on my tin color box cover.

There were small moths that kept fluttering around while I painted. I loved the feeling.

Fall begins

I drove to Oak Meadow Park that charges $5.00 for non-residents as daily parking fees. That's exorbitant for a park that has little to offer to adults. Kids can enjoy the choo-choo train ride, slides and climbing onto a decommissioned plane. After seeing little prospects of a shaded spot which wouln't be criss crossed by energetic children and their watchful parents, I retired to a bench in a 'Fee charged' Picnic spot as all other free seating was on dew laden lawns. I picked up 4 leaves and made a small painting while listening to "Wait, wait.." a NPR news quiz.

House warming gift for friends

This one was done in the backyard of a close friend's house in San Diego, CA.
Used 4 main colors and 1 accent color. Unfortunately, the colors mixed a lot with my older colors on the palette and the result is an horrendous hotch-potch of colors. Anyway, all that matters is that my friends liked it, so I am satisfied!

Colors - Burnt umber, cobalt blue, permanent yellow deep, viridian hue and rose madder.
I will try to minimize use of any 'permanent' color. I realized today that they make the watercolors lose their transparency.

New Label - "Digital Art"

Amrish gave me a copy of Adobe Creative Suite 3, Design Premium for this year's birthday. It has unleashed a slew of things that I couldn't do for lack of time or time Vs effort. The software can do whatever I want and some more. I am at this time handicapped by the amount of ideas flooding my brain.

That's how the poster outside my art studio would look if I had an art studio.
Brother - thanks a lot!

Back in the watercolor game.

My painting had been fledging but I have made up my mind to get back to my old levels of artistry. Al Stine's book is guiding me at this time and the reduced palette exercises are helping me immensely not only to get a more harmonious painting but to soothe my nerves as well.

Palo Alto Art center where I sketch wouldn't allow me to use their studio for free to paint in. So, I came home and played with my son and after he slept, copied a tiny photo in Sunset Magazine(tiny photos help to eliminate needless details for flustered artists). It still took 45 minutes straight. The outcome is 4 inch x 7 inch.

Perfect Spot from Alaska

Perfect spot all right, but the painting lacks focus. The mountain blue has been chosen correctly, but the detailed work on it with a smaller brush doesn't let it slide into the background. The lack of any foreground work doesn't aid either.

What happened to the wash for the sky?
